Rear tail light replacement procedure, help needed

The procedure to replace the tail light (rear quarter panel, not tail gate) is fairly easy (even easier if you have the service manual found on this forum). In summary, here are the steps (in words): 1. Open trunk, and locate the cover panel for the tail light, pop if off using a trim removal...

    Koni Shocks Coming Spring 2015

That's good news... I've been on the lookout for better shocks to be available for aftermarket springs.... appears that KYB is already on it with their SR Special: http://model.auto-style.jp/cx-5/KYB42426152G01/

Agreed on the mileage impact mainly due to extra rolling resistance from a larger contact patch and change of tire compound (and rotational inertia has more impact on acceleration and deceleration). Honestly, the build quality is good enough to expect it to last a long time (as long as I would...

Thanks for the compliments. The manufacturer (Advanti Racing) is owned by YHI, which actually manufactures and distribute wheels for many brands including OZ Racing, Sparco Wheels, Enkei, Breyton, and Yokohama Wheels. The wheels are doing well and have been problem-free (wife did manage to...

    Eibach Pro-Kit: Subtle, Clean Drop

I would be interested to hear as well... since the majority (that have suspension mods) are running H&R springs.

In short yes... the LMZ (2-emitter version) is an improvement over the Cree 'popsicle sticks'. I would be curious as to how well the no-fan version works as it may be feasible since the aluminum heat sink on mine aren't hot to touch after running them for hours (in traffic). I believe the...

You're right... I guess DRL's in the trunk is probably a bit overkill ;)

Was thinking some decent sized COB LEDs, but those will likely be over the 5W that the standard festoon bulb uses for that enclosure/outlet. Might have to turn that into a trigger/switch and tap the lighter outlet for power.

Anybody with coilovers? Looking for feedback

RuckinWestwood, I'd be interested in what you end up with. Might even see if we can meet up an check out your CX-5 since I'm in the area. :) Really wished there were more suspension options from makers like Bilstein or Koni (paired with H&R), but since it's not a sports car, our CX-5's don't...

Yeah... I removed the assembly when I swapped to LED bulbs, but in looking at light strips, I want to make sure the proper power is being drawn to avoid blowing a fuse...

Yeah... was reading up on this thread for some inspiration (ran across it while preparing for the tail light install): http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123838940-How-To-Install-LED-Strips-in-CX5-Cargo-Area But yea... there's definitely a concern about the rear control module fuse...

I have been debating going with an LED light strip mounted elsewhere in the trunk since oftentimes I find that the light gets blocked due to some tallish items.

Kinda in the same boat as OP... I'd be curious about the Teins fitted to the 2.5L on the NA chassis. Sub'd :)

Indeed... now I'm curious... though that thread indicated there was some fitment issue that Philips is correcting... not sure if that is already addressed. This might the beginning to the LED fog search... my wallet hates me... lol

Yeah... I saw those too... after I picked up the 'LMZ' style: http://www.vleds.com/led-headlights/h11-lmz.html However, they seem to be designed specifically for fog light application (with ~5% more light on road compared to stock H11 as described on the chart). But now that I've mostly...

To ChrisLLK, the Philips LumiLED aka 'LMZ' bulbs got installed tonight... a little side-by-side with the LED that it's replacing... Below is the link to my review of them (another thread in the forum) with pictures... I have also started creating a comparison chart of the various bulbs taken...
