This issue of the on-board mpg calculation being highly than actual mpg isn't confined to the Mazda. I've seen the same thing posted in many car forums. Far too often to appear to be a random event, in my opinion.

The Skyactiv engines are a bit different in the UK, aren't they? Aren't they optimized to run on higher octane fuel and have a higher compression ratio (14:1?). Do you use UK 95 (RON) octane? Which I believe is equivalent to 91 in the USA.
