I wondered the same when I bought mine. I bought a remote on ebay for $20 followed the instructions and it worked fine. All the research I did came back saying it was standard equipment.

Just replaced my front and rear motor mounts with MAZDA OEM mounts. The driver and passenger side looked fine. It used to shake like all hell taking off from a light accompanied by a couple quick banging sounds. Now no shake but if I let off the clutch anywhere under 1000rpms a small shake...
