    Motive Brake Bleeder

I'd suggest you try putting a bead of RTV(or other tube sealant that remains flexible after it dries-I used Goop) at the top of the threads on the inside of the cap and let it dry. I think you'll find that will solve the leak without the need to get another adapter cap.

    Ebay Headers

I installed a generic EBay header this past Summer that I bought last year. I leak tested it prior to installation, and it was fine. The welds were ok, the flanges were decent thickness and the manifold flange was flat. The only issue I had was the angle of the outlet was a few degrees off and...

    Loss of Power

First off, no CEL? I'd confirm the CEL bulb is ok, just to be sure. I agree with the fuel injector cleaner suggestion-I use the stuff on a regular basis. My 02 was gutless(160k kms-100K miles), then started spitting out random misfire and warmup cat CEL codes. Changing the coils(Autozone...

    Check engine light blinking problem

multiple misfires I've experienced the same thing, and in my case the blinking check engine light was indicative of multiple misfires (I forget what the code was). The engine feels like it's running on 2-3 cylinders, no guts. My cat was shot when I bought the car last year, so I'm not concerned...

    p5 gas saving questions

Mileage is so bad I try not to think of it.. The 02 automatic P5 we bought for my gf last year gets about 22 mpg (50% highway) when I am gentle with it. I couldn't believe how bad the mpg was- I have a 99 Maxima 5 speed(3.0L V6) that gets better than that. I know I'm getting an occasional...

ok i need advice and opinion

No, since a leaking valve cover gasket won't allow the oil into the cylinder. It could however drip onto hot engine parts(ex.exhaust manifold) and burn off, causing some smoking/odour.

Anyone ever have their power steering leak?

check the cooling pipe Hi, I recently tracked down a PS leak to the cooling pipe which is forward of the radiator/ac condenser. I mention it because I found the leak when looking through the grill and under the car, though much of the fluid was accumulating on top of the under engine cover. No...

Serpentine belt broke, my P5 over-heated

Overheated...to the point of causing damage? Sorry to hear about your car problem. Please clarify-how badly did it overheat? How long did you run after it had started overheating? If it wasn't long, you probably have little or no damage..if it was for an extended period, your head probably...

    Belt still squealing!!

belts and squeal I changed both belts a few months ago, and experienced some squeal, even after tightening to spec. I ended up removing both belts a few days later and thoroughly wire brushing/cleaning the pulley grooves, then taking the time to clean out the belt grooves using a stiff bristle...

Multiple ABS DTCs after a LR sensor change

Right rear ABS sensor replaced with drum version sensor The code 13 turned out to be a bum right rear ABS sensor- the resistance was way off the 1,3 to 1,7 kohm range. I installed a right rear drum brake ABS sensor from a Protege, per a thread mentioned here that originated on toprotege.com...

Multiple ABS DTCs after a LR sensor change

..progress made I've made some progress , and for the sake of others to refer to, I'll post some updates. The battery is fine, and not causing codes due to low voltage. I haven't ruled out a bad intermittent ground, but the battery voltages under no load and load are well within spec. (Further...

Multiple ABS DTCs after a LR sensor change

C'mon, don't be shy. Ok, let's try the easy one first....what happens when u pull the 60 amp ABS fuse? ABS is disabled...check...but are ABS DTCs cleared?...barring any other problems(bum battery for example) should the ABS and brake dash indicators also be turned off? After some mucking about...

    axel back exhuast gasket

metallic ring gasket The gasket is a metallic ring type that fits in a recesson in the midpipe flange. I used a Walker part# 31332, cost about $4. You'll likely have to scrape out the leftovers from the old gasket with a flat bladed screwdriver. Use some exhaust joint cement or sealer to bed...

WTB: 2003 Protege5 left rear ABS sensor

First post-hello from Montreal. Just ordered a new LR ABS disc sensor from an EBay seller I've done business with before for the P5 my gf just bought(hence my registration today on the forum). Haven't received it yet so can't guarantee it's the right one til I have it in my hands (though he...
