I don't have one of these on my 3 but if it's like every other one I've ever had on other cars its just held in place by clips. I would be very surprised if there was any drilling involved when attached.

That's exactly right - if you press down on the carpet in the rear of the vehicle - it will depress a good inch before you hit the floor-pan. Thanks ZoomVT - here, have one of these on me... (cheers)
