Turns out Monroe doesn't make the preassembled "quick struts" for P5's. Will be sending it to the shop now :(

My P5 hitting near 170 000km and it sounds like a rickety old spring bed going over bumps. Has been on too many dirt roads! So I think its time for all new struts. Just so happens Canadian Tire has the Monroe Quick Struts on sale this week, has anyone had any experience with those? Any advice...

Welcome to the boards, to be a protege5 owner you gotta know how to change headlight bulbs!!! Just remember not to touch the new bulbs with bare skin - they always warn that oil from your skin shorten their life.... er something.

How much did you clean the calipers up before putting the POR 15 on? Or is this the stuff that bonds onto rust really well?

I tried two Kumho Ecstas last year , and the treadlife lasted one summer of my wifes commute.

Mine rusted through couple years ago, noticed oil slowly dripping from bottom. The way its angled at the front makes it great collector of road dirt and salt. It is a pretty easy DIY job, the only hard part is paying for a new oil pan.

Perhaps the problem with cruise control is that tiny vacuum hose? Did you disconnect/reconnect it cause I almost forgot that one. Also check electrical harness on it. Do you have a multimeter to check the voltage at the battery when running and when shut off?

I just changed mine out about a month ago. Hopefully yours isn't totally dead or Mazda will want $280 for a new one. I found used one online luckily. First I'd check if there's any blown fuses, if so its likely new wiper motor time... Check the manual to remove the wiper motor, its not too...

You moved cruise control, and that cylinder on the firewall right? For the alternator I kept it down low, rotated so the pulley wheel was pointing to front of car then pressed the back right against firewall and squeezed it up, once your past that first part your good. Its just hard to get past...

152 k kms and this car eats light bulbs and brake pads for food. Canadian winters are brutal on this car, check your oil pan for rust!!!
