Why do P5's eat headlight bulbs? Any long-lasting alternatives?

I had bulbs going every six months or so. Switched to HID and have had to replace one bulb and one ballast in about 5 years. IIRC, DDMTuning has lifetime warranty on their kits.

Major Overheating Issues w/ P5. Time to Cut Ties?

UPDATE: I went out yesterday to to some more investigating and I noticed that my coolant reservoir was now empty. So I filled it back up and it hasn't shown signs of overheating since. Wondering if since I parked on an incline that somehow an air bubble worked itself out overnight.

Major Overheating Issues w/ P5. Time to Cut Ties?

I tried that for about 5 minutes. With cap off I idled at 1.5k for 2 minutes and then 2k for 2-3 minutes. Didn't alter the level of coolant. Maybe I need to do it longer?

Major Overheating Issues w/ P5. Time to Cut Ties?

I was debating removing the thermo altogether. I'll try this tomorrow and see if it makes any immediate difference. Did not realize I could rent a block tester so that'll be a good next step if the thermostat removal makes no difference.

Major Overheating Issues w/ P5. Time to Cut Ties?

My car overheated on the freeway a few days ago. It went from operating normally on my work commute to huge plumes of smoke within a second. I pulled over as quickly as I could. My radiator had a major crack and it all gave way at once on my commute. Had mechanic replace it and the hoses and...

P5 is making an odd sound with AC on at stop...

Do you also notice that when you hear the sound, the AC and or other accessories slow down? I notice that the amount of air blown lowers a bit and is less cold until the voltage kicks back up. No other accessories however, are noticeably affected as far as I can tell. I am planning to go back...

P5 is making an odd sound with AC on at stop...

I think I have an idea of what you might be talking about. I too have experienced a similar sound at times. I can only describe it as the sound of "electrical current". It is also on the passenger side of the car coming from the hood area. I have a scangauge and have Voltage as on of my...

Racing Beat Springs and Car Sputtering When at low RPMs

This is at the front of my mind because I just dealt with this issue. Your rough idle could be caused by a vacuum leak (crack or tear in your intake hose). You may not throw a CEL right away but eventually you should as things get worse. My old intake hose was cracked (not surprising given the...

    Budget Mods

My stance after owning this car for a long time is that power mods are pointless. The gains will be little to none and your cash will be gone with near nothing to show for it. Your P5 will always be slow and if you accept that now, you'll save yourself some dough. Thankfully though, it's still a...

    Hood bra or Nay?

Wish I could find an OEM bra. My front end's paint is so messed up I'd consider gladly put a bra on it to hide it.

Stock PS, Water Pump, & AC Belt Sizes

Hey Guys, Been a long time since I've been on here. I still love my P5 and have no plans to move to another vehicle unless something goes wrong with her. Just not too interested in the car "modding" scene much anymore. With all that said I'm wanting to replace my RR Racing UDP, with a stock...

    FS: Mazda Protege-5 Mirrors

I have 2 P5 power mirrors for sale. One is painted white and the other painted black. The paint is in fair condition. Also, it looks like the tweeter wire was cut for some reason so they will need to be wired in if you'd like to use tweeters with these mirrors. Should take 5 minutes at most. I...
