Wrong Oil

So my mechanic put in the wrong oil. He changed it thinking it was a regular 3 I believe. 5w-20 syn blend. How bad is that for the car? should I get it changed right away to full syn?

I would have changed the oil the moment I found out. At the shop's expense

Here the thing...the MS3 calls for 5W-30. I run 5W-40 because of the labrynth design of the bearing in the turbo. Basically the lighter the oil the more likely it is to leak past the turbo seals. You are more likely to get smoking from the turbo with 5W-20 and a shortened turbo life. So yes get it outta there. Oil changes are the one thing I wont let anyone else do.

That's what I thought, guess my mistake not telling them full syn just thought they would know. Time for oil change part 2.

Make sure its 5W-30 weight oil.

Yea I am going to be very specific from now on. I actually used to buy my own oil 5w-40 and give it to the mechanics. Got a little lazier.

Best choice will be Shell Rotella T-6 5W40 full synthetic.
