I got a 2002 protege es 2.0 5 speed on the weekend to use primarily as a low cost commuter car. It drives great and is in pretty good shape.
I have noticed an intermittent squeak while cruising at highway speeds. The sound is coming from the rear of the car and seems to be related to wheel speed. The faster I go the quicker the frequency of the sound. It goes away when I apply the brakes and increases in volume when taking a corner. My fist thought is a wheel bearing however they usually grind when they go bad and this is a squeaking sound.
Any thoughts?
