i was just talking to my frined earlier... and he was telling me how this company he knows that makes motormounts for VWs make a killing by just making them out of hockey pucks. i wonder how it would work for the proteges? i was actually thinking about doing this for exhaust hangar mounts as well. well anyways, commencee the flaming. aha (kissass)

Interesting. Only problem I see is that the rubber used in the pucks is so hard that it wouldn't give much flex at all. You always want some degree of flex to absorb jolts or vibrations. Most people on here complain about how the motor mounts reduce engine lash, but vibrate the hell out of your car. There is definitely a trade off, and definitely a reason why the engine isn't just bolted directly to the car's frame.
