Just completed a 5 hour trip during a rainy night and then after unloading the car at the destination, noticed that the rear window wiper actuator protrudes through the rear windscreen without a seal of some sort. Does anyone know if I've lost the seal, or is this the design?

no seal on the outside that i can see

I think you're ok, you didn't lose any seal.
It doesn't look like there is any seal on the outside,
I can see the glass cutout and there is no rubber seal on the outside
the grommet seal is on the inside tight against the glass
here is a picture of my rear wiper, does it look like yours?
I have not had any leaks or problems,
I checked out two other CX-9's that happen to be in the parking lot
and they both look like mine
