Is it safe to use a slightly larger ground wire than a power wire on an amp? Its only a 2 gauge difference and I need a longer one than whati currently have

Doesn't really matter as long as the wires are the minimum required gauge for the amount of power you will be drawing.
Just check the specs on your amp, should tell you the power draw in amps then Click here to make sure your wire is thick enough. there is a chart that shows the max amps each size wire can handle with the different types of insulation.
