Please help!!! Engine Problem

Driving down the parkway at 70 mph...I down shifted to 5th gear and punch it...once I started to accelerate something popped and my engine shut off...managed to get to the shoulder. Looked under the car and saw oil leaking from the engine...no idea why this happened..what could it be?please help

It could be a lot of things, probably none of which are good. We need way more details to accurately diagnose the issue. Find out where the oil is leaking from.

sounds like you threw a rod.

from those pics and the amount of oil. Im gona say rod is thrown through the side of the block. Not a good thing at all. Hope I am wrong but you might want to start bracing for some bad news.
