Hello! I have a 2002 Mazda Protege ES 2.0 and I was planning on installing a cold air intake. However, I can not verify a part that plugs into the stock intake hose and where I would put it with the cold air intake installed... Does anybody have any idea what this is? 12674562_1579281645419503_1567144611_n.jpg12834755_1579281658752835_413051099_n.jpg12895424_1579281642086170_1380491873_n.jpg

EDIT: Sorry if this is the incorrect place to post, I can not figure out how to delete a post.

I would start with calling the CAI manufacturer to verify that what you have is, in fact, the correct model for your car. If it is, ask them how they intended for that connection to be made. To find the part number of the component, check with a dealership parts person or an online dealership drawing of the intake system.

Hey man, thats the exact same Intake that I bought. I cant find the solonoid valve in that picture, could you point it out to me? And do you have any tips for installation?

Cool ! Lol yes it's an XYZ tunning ram air intake a few issues you will run into are once you remove the factory set up you will have a ton of room lol I had to fabricate to brackets one is the yellow angle iron to hold the dump silanode in place I was able to bolt it right back on to the motor by using a short piece of angle iron I drilled 2 holes on on the bottom to mount to the motor the second would support the dump silanode valve .. The second bracket is a support bracket painted red it's kinda hiden I'll re snap a few pics and show you this bracket involved some welding but you could also use bolts I wanted a cleaner look this bracket is the main support the bolts on to the mass air flow sensor using the factory bolts .. The cold air version has to snake down the wheel well to the cooler air im running a ram air. It's a very easy install

I made a mistake, mine is actually the Short Ram Air Intake too. And that would be awesome if you could take more pics! I appreciate the help alot! I will be installing it saturday or sunday.

alright yes i went with the aftermarket because i wasn't happy with the stock rubber

this is the yellow bracket for the dump solenoid valve the red support arm is so the MAFS stays supported

Sweet! Thanks man. I think I will try and find a place to ziptie the solonoid valve to.. Anyways. Ill let you know how the install goes !

All done! It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. On a side note.. its a good thing I replaced it....

Anyways, there is now a somewhat annoying vibration on the drivers side door. I think it because the filter is touching the tank, will have to fiddle with it. I used the crappy bracket provided so it is sort of supported but I think it should be fine. I ended up zip tying the solenoid purge valve.

Nice !! Congrats the dump silanode might make noise it needs to mount back to the motor that may be the annoying ticking .. Looks pretty awesome you will notice better pick up off the line and on the high way the con is you draw more gas lol but who cares
