Help with fuel smell. Found source. What is this?

The past week I've been smelling a slight amount of fresh fuel. Finally found it today. When the car is running, it's coming out of this canister from the rear. I can see the vapor coming out of it at idle. What is this part? It's the silver/zinc looking part which has like 1" hose coming in and out. Fuel vapor appeared to be coming out of the little slots. Can't be normal. I'm trying to figure out how to add a picture.

From the very back underneath the car? Fuel filter im pretty sure. Google protege5 fuel filter removal see if thats it.

Nvm fuel filter is in gas tank on protege5 haha i forgot. That is the charcoal cannister

I think its connected to the egr sysytem

The silver one is a check valve for the evap. system.

There maybe a blockage or problem somewhere else making it leak there.
