Backfiring, or popping through the exhaust when you back off?
A CBE will do that because of the straight through design of the muffler/system. It's normal, but will likely become a little less so once the ECU learns, and your own driving style changes a little bit.
I still get the occasional "pop." You're just not used to the changes and neither is the car.
