Engine Bay Detail questions

Hey everyone,

So I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to vehicles, especially all of the electronics in the hood. As I was growing up, I learned that it’s not good for an engine to be hosed down. My engine bay is very dirty from all of the roadtrips I’ve been on during this past summer, and I wanted to do an engine bay detail.

Do you think it is safe to detail the engine bay? Additionally, are there any components I should cover to prevent damage? I’m assuming I have to cover the fuse box, intake box, and alternator, but is there anything else?

I used Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating On my first CX9. First I did a decontamination wash followed by claying the surface to prep the surface. Then 2 coats with the Turtle Ceramic Spray. (24 hours between the coats) Very happy with the result. It has held up for 12 months...
