2001 Mazda MP3
I had a really weird thing last night. I had just got outta work, ice all over the car, start it, back up, and i barely stalled it (I've been driving a manual since drivers ed), and it wouldn't fire right back up- had to crank for a long time- like crank 5 secs, stop, crank 5 secs, stop. i waited 30 secs then, tried it again, cranked 10secs, could hear it firing, gave it some gas, boom- started.

was really odd.....

:( hope my mp3 is ok...

Happened to me before after a stall. I think its almost like a slightly flooded engine due to the fact that it ran so harsh before you stalled it.

This was pretty common on older cars, especially the second gen RX-7. It happens on new cars sometimes too. If you shut the engine off before it is out of high idle, the ECU will become confused and will sometimes flood the engine. You should be able to just hold the gas pedal on the floor while cranking and this will temporarily disable the fuel pump and allow the engine to start.
