Car drive fine, now won't start

Hey all. I have a 2003 protege, 2.0, auto. I drove it 40 minutes to a friends house, and during the drive my CEL went off. It was on for 02 sensor, and my fuel gauge. So when I pulled in I wanted to turn off the car and back on to see if it would come back on. The car won't even crank. All the gauges come on, as does the radio. But when I turn the key nothing else happens. Any ideas on where to start?

tap your starter motor a few times with a wrench or hammer. if there's a dead contact on the commutator, that'll happen. Tapping it will cause it to rotate a little to a position where it'll crank again. If it works, then your starter will need to be replaced. It's unrelated to the errors you mentioned, but those wouldn't/shouldn't keep it from even cranking.

O2 sensor would just make your engine run rough and get bad mileage. it wouldn't keep it from cranking. I don't know about the fuel gauge. maybe search that one independently on the forums to see what that could be a symptom of.
