Auto trans problem

Hi guys
My brother has a 02 protege5 auto 1 to 3 gear drive fine but when shift to 4th it feel like the car is in neutral, it rev up to 4-5k rpm and finally catches the gear and does it again does this mean the tran is going bad or the troque convertor? I change out the tranny fluid already

Not likely to be the torque converter.

I would start looking for a replacement trans. You have a sprag, band, clutch or other holding member that is not holding anymore.

Ok thanks I was thinking it was the tran also
