atx ecu on mtx engine and car

I tried searching for it to no avail so sorry if i couldnt find it. Me and my friend are swapping a 1.8bp into his 1.5z5 mtx but we dont have a ecu or harness... i found a couple ecu's but all that i found are atx, will they still work with the mtx?
Forgot to say.. its a 97 protege lx

Should be fine, may get a cel for a few sensors

yup. will run just fine. Just will through a bunch of ATX codes since it will be looking for shift solenoids, and a shift lock out and s***, and none of that exists on a MTX trans. But as long as you dont care about a CEL, it will run fine. I have a ATX Millenia ecu running my MTX 626 right now.

You can also pull the cluster and the cel light, or snip the wire from the ecu that tells it to come on
