The Atlantic Sports Car Club (ASCC), a member club of Atlantic Region Motor Sports (ARMS), is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the 2009 ASN Canada FIA Canadian SoloSprint Championship at Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia on September 4-6th, 2009.
Last years event, held at Calabogie Motorsport Park outside Ottawa, attracted over 100 competitors from across the country.
ASCC is planning a full weekend of competition and hospitality that is certain to attract the attention of enthusiasts from across Canada and the North Eastern region of the U.S. We would like to personally invite you and your club members to participate in this event.
In order to prepare competitors for the championship event, ASCC is offering an on-track driving school on August 22nd, during which participants can become licensed to compete on track in SoloSprint events. To give competitors opportunities to practice, the club is also organizing a number of regional SoloSprint events throughout the summer.
SoloSprint events are conducted on paved closed courses, typically purpose-built racetracks or test facilities, where the speeds reached can approach the maximum potential of the car. In these Time Trials, competitors complete several laps of the circuit in street cars and race cars and compete for the fastest lap times.
