2007 AWD Transfer Case Problems - Is it too late for the DIY fluid change?

2007 CX-9 w/ 110K miles. We are the second owner, have no idea what the previous owner did, other than "regular maintenance". We are experiencing the symptoms associated with the transfer case issue - burning oil smell/sulfur smell, whining sound at low speed, excessive vibration (at all speeds in our case).
Is it too late to change the TC fluid as a fix at this point?

Has anyone changed their TC on their own? Looking at the service manual, it seems fairly straightfoward but long-ish, lots of parts to remove to get to the case. Would appreciate any tips from those who have done it.

Thanks!

Heh thanks... I guess the decision has been made for us. The car started making loud thunking noises from front end and really intense burning oil smell. TC replacement here we come!

Oh that sucks... well as time goes on might want to change it out at intervals suggested in thread and vehicle will serve you well into the future. This seems to be one of the few areas on a '07-'15 CX-9 to pay special attention to.
