2003 static speaker resolution needed, please

Used 2003 has radio sound from front speakers only; works.

CD sound from back speakers only. Right rear speaker (CD) has static, alternating with clear sound; mostly static. No pattern to its changing; lovely surprise when sound is clear.

Don't know anything about sound systems. Am guessing radio was hooked up to front to avoid rear speaker. Cd playing is wanted.
Would back speaker's sound changes be due to loose wire, blown speaker, other?

Please speak in simple terms. I am smart and unknowledgeable. Direction is definitely needed. Thanks for help.

One year is long enough w/o reasonable CD playing capability. : )

A speaker's woofer will degrade over time (especially the ring that flexes every time the speaker is being used. Contact http://www.crutchfield.com/
They will identify the right speakers for your car and they will even help you install them (and a receiver, if you'd like) over the phone if you buy those things from them. I have installed an Alpine receiver and speakers in my MX6, using their excellent instructions.
