I have an a 2001 Mazda Protege with a 1.6 L engine and the noisy water pump will need replaced soon. Since the timing belt has to come off to replace the water pump, what would be a fair charge for a mechanic to put on a new timing belt when doing the water pump? Since the belt has to come off anyway should there be any additional labor charge to put on a new one or should the mechanic just charge only for the new belt itself? Appreciate any advice on this situation.
