1994 Protege speedometer and odometer not working

I was replacing the heater core on my 94 Protoge and that requires taking out the entire dash on this model apparently. We didn't really mess with anything in there and the fuel gauge and heat thingy still work so I don't know if its a fuse that broken or if something was unplugged or what is going on. Any ideas? Thanks.

Beat me to it. It is possible to reach with the dash installed, but difficult. Rest your head on the brake pedal, with the driver seat removed for extra room for your body, and reach straight up underneath the dash inline with the steering wheel. The cable end just plugs into the back of the speedo.
