12v on cigerate lighter

Actuall I made a 6 foot cable so it could reach from the front of the car to then truck. I dont think that there would be that much resitance that it would drop it 6 volts.

if i had to guess, id say somewhere along the line it isnt making a good connection. If you used a real light gauge wire it might cause some drop too. Direct current doesnt travel distances very well, but 6 feet isnt that far. I would maybe check the voltage directly from the cigarette lighter... if that is 12 volts, or close to it, then you know for sure that the problem is somewhere in your new cable.

OK thanks, I fixed it. There is 12 volts comeing from the cig litter, I modidfied a a plug that was used for a car cell phone charger. I didnt take out the board that dropped the voltage from 12 to 6. Now its working good now.
