1.5 engine noise???

i have a uk 1999 mazda 323 1.5 16v. there is a strange rotating grinding noise when the engine is warm. it seems to be at half the crank speed throughout the rev range but the noise goes at about 3k. anyone got any ideas?

Same problem here. Does it only happen when you're in gear? Because when I rev it in neutral, it goes away. It's only at low revs in 1-2-3rd gears.
