05 engine and gearbox put into 04 Mazda 2 Dy

I have put a 2005 Mazda 2 Dy Engine and Gearbox into my 2004 Mazda 2 Dy, but I am having trouble staying in Drive, I have to push the gear stick almost into neutral to get drive other wise it's in second ? i havea also swapwed gear selectors, Any ideas what I need to do? Should I swap gear box Ecu.
