Mazda CX 5
Hi all, nice to know you all, just 2 hour ago my cx 5, i-stop start flashing orange, and there also warning sign.
but the car is drive totally normal, except the start stop not functioning.
After i arrived home, then i turn off the car, and i restart again, the warning sign and the i-stop sign still flashing.
Then i wait for 1 hour, i turn on again the car, and the car is totally normal, without the warning sign.
Do you guys have this problem too?
I'm from Indonesia, my car is CX-5 Urban Black

No never had that even when my battery went flat due to a smart charging problem.

Nope, sorry, thats new to me. I used to live in Jakarta... first saw the CX5 at the Mazda dealer near Grand Indonesia Mall.

I've read that it is problem with battery going bad already. The thing is it is a very expensive battery compared to the Toyota Rav 4 I used to have. Dealer price running in the three hundreds, battery place running in the two hundreds.

i know this is an old message but for those who may experience the same problem....its the battery.
1. Ensure the alternator is charging properly before you buy the battery.
2. a regular battery will not work, i used the red Optima Glass mat dry cell battery.
3. you will have to clear all faults after installation (see a professional for this part esp) as the low voltage throws alot of fault codes dont be alarmed once cleared and properly charged it works fine.

I had that problem with I stop, but it's now fine. Very expensive battery at dealer around $350 and at other battery dealers around $250. Waiting for it to fault again to go ahead and change it :(

I think the iStop batteries are deep cycle batteries. Problem with deep cycle batteries is that they have a lower CCA (Cold Cranking Amp) compared to an ordinary battery of the same size. To compensate that you would need a bigger battery to get higher CCA. Added bonus is you get more power storage.

They are not deep cycle batteries, which are not well suited as starting batteries anyway.

They are AGM batteries.

Becoming more and more common on Europen vehicles, many of which run start/stop systems similar to iStop.

Shop around for an AGM battery that meets Mazda's specs.

We have a local specialist battery supplier that can supply a top quality European AGM battery (made by Banner Austria) to suit CX5 for A$189, so I am sure if you look around you will find one.

Thanks for clarification. I thought AGM batteries are also deep cycle batteries.
