The stop sign on the HUD is useful especially when the real stop sign is physically blocked by a trees/tall bushes, a parked vehicle, or traffic. Furthermore you can be alerted if the upcoming intersection is a yield or a complete stop intersection.

Correct. This a very useful feature that I know my wife will love in the future.

It's sign recognition though. Doesn't it need a visual?

It does, but with this feature it is always looking for signs, as opposed to a fatigued driver who might miss signs on unfamiliar roads. This feature is great for road trips or when you're driving on unfamiliar places.

Yup. I've seen it update when it spotted a sign where the speed limit has changed, but I didn't see/notice the new sign. This happens more on street level driving than on freeways, where signs are more out in the open. So... it does its job correctly, and well IMO.

Which is good to hear :)

Here are my Sonic Silver pics, which I posted in a separate thread...

I've been driving my 17' cx5 for about 3 weeks now, I've noticed that the stop sign recognition is really slow. Im already slowing down to nearly a crawl then it pops up on the HUD. The stops signs are in plain view and this happens on a perfectly sunny day. Seems like more of a gimmick then a true safely feature. Also i dont think it has other sign recognition like yield signs.
