What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Picked up some MS3 wheels off CL for $300. Now I need TPMS sensors and some plastidip to clean up the curb rash.

Beautiful!

I got a set of MS3 wheels with tires, as a MS3 buddy wanted to trade my OEM 17" wheels for it.

Looks like lots of us on the 5 forum going for the MS3 wheels.

I love the look of the MS3 wheels, but they are just so damn heavy! It goes against getting better MPG's and well lightness.

As a Lotus owner, I am all about Chapman's lightness, in most things.

Agreed.. that is why most of us MS3 owners run other light wheels. My Mazdaspeed Miata also came with 17lb factory Racing Harts, which the first day I bought it (2004) got replaced with Volk TE37 9lb 15" wheels.

For me, the Mazda5 is slow and doesn't get really great MPG anyways. So I rather it not look so frumpy. So throwing some MS3 wheels and getting few less MPG is fine. ONly car I own, where I am putting heavier wheels than what it came with.

the 225 section width helps though...

Fixed an oil leak....

Seriously... What are the odds that the day I put my 5 up for sale it develops an oil leak? This isn't something I've ever messed with either. Just some random factory screw up I guess. There is a socket cap screw with a brass sealing washer located just behind the serpentine tensioner on the top left of the motor. It just wasn't tightened down all the way. Oil was seeping from behind the washer and running down the front of the block.

At least it was an easy fix and it happened before I passed it on to someone else. I would hate getting a call from someone I just sold my car to a few days later with a locked motor because it ran out of oil.... Ugh!!!!

<~~~That's the sign of a car that doesn't want to be sold. Tomorrow you may come out and find a tire has gone flat. You've seen Herbie the Love Bug before right? :)

I got my set off ebay and then TPMS service kits from amazon. If you got them powdercoated, they can smooth out the curb rash during the sandblasting process. Great deal for $300, regardless.

Cool. Did you buy part of Rod's kit??

No, I got them from a boosted mazda3 (not ms3) who blew an engine and is moving on to a new project. FYI his engine went after 85k miles at 16psi on stock internals, so that's another data point that says I should be safe at 10psi.

Swapped the front and rear amber turn signals for Silverstar ones so they're no longer amber. Also put a Thule fairing on

Swapped out the amber turn signal bulbs for Sylvania Silverstar's. I really hate amber and wish the head lights didn't have the amber reflector. I'll eventually get the international version headlights when I get more money though.

Agree 100%, hate the amber reflector.

Does the silverstars blink orange, but just look clear? If so, do you have the front and rear model numbers, as I would love to do it.

THanks!

I am looking forward to seeing them on your ride, but are those Ford center caps or are my eyes deceiving me?

It is that time of the year where we are. 'The changing of the Tires' .
