Mazda5 Wheel Fitment & Photo Guide

No problem Silentnoise.

I love my Mz5, my only regret is not having the big engine, I have only the 1.8L 115 Hp.

My dream would be to find the led rear stop light !!!

Thank you for the reply, I tried them out today and way to much offset. I'll look for better options.

Welcome! If you're going 225, +48 is probably the lowest offset you can safely run, maybe +45. I'd stick with +50 or higher if you can.

My wife's 2013 5 currently has the OEM 16 rims and tires that need replacing. Not lowered, nor will it ever be.

I was originally looking for some lightweight 17" rims (ie: MX5) but now I've got the opportunity to pick up a set of the Rays 18x7.5 +50 MS3 wheels.

From reading the last 50+ pages it looks like these should fit with no problems? I see lots of people running the RX-8 wheels which I believe are 18x8 +50?

225 40 seems to be the best tire size for these rims? 215 45? 225 45? I'd prefer 225s for the added curbage protection. But the 45 sidewall is undoubtedly comfier.

Looking for a rub-free setup with worst case scenario loading (4 people in the car, luggage, towing a small trailer, etc). Not looking to roll fenders or other vehicle mods.

The 18x7.5 +50 wheels are appealing but if there is a greater than 0.1% possibility they'll rub I'll probably play it safe and get something narrower.

Thanks,

I have had the 18s Ms3 wheels from when I bought my 12 Mazda 5 back in 11

I ran 225/45/18 Michelin always
6 people plus roof box no rubbing

Recently I went to 215/45 for a bit shorter tire

How is the ride quality with 215/45?

i much prefer the meaty look and ride of the 225/45

215/45 ride is noticeably worse and more importantly ugly fender to wheel gap is pronounced

Then again Michelins were $900 for 4 for my mazda5

I went General gmax 05 this time for $300 for all 4

This will be my last set of tire for my Mazda 5. After almost 7.5 years I am close to end of ownership with all niggling problems rearing their ugly heads

Thanks,

There's room for a 26" tall tire, especially if you're on the stock suspension. I'm on MX-5 wheels myself, and currently run 225/50-17 tires on the 17x7 +55 wheel spec. The fronts have a 1/8" spacer to clear the MS3 brakes, so the effective offset up front is +51-52 with the rear staying at +55. Lowered almost 2 inches there is zero rubbing. Your speedometer will be just a hair under speed (by less than 2%, so showing 59 when doing 60mph on totally new tread) if it's calibrated like the first gen (mine is a 2009)- 215/50-17 brings the speedometer dead on with GPS measured speed. If I had your wheel setup I'd personally be running 225/45 on it. There's enough room at +50 offset. I'm lowered 2 inches and don't rub. I did rub with 235/45 on 17x7 +55 though- inner fender liner got scrubbed at full lock. With 225 on +50 you'll have another 10mm of clearance over my 235 setup inside the wheel well. If you have a flat lip in the back fender it might be close- but you could run 205/50 and still have the same height sidewall as 225/45.

Mazda RX-8 R3 19” Wheels

So after years of searching I finally got the opportunity to buy a set of RX-8 BBS wheels. I am also going to be in the market looking to purchasing a used Mazda5 an 08-12 haven’t decided yet, I like both.

I read thru all these pages and I did not come across anyone putting these wheels on a Mazda5 before. The only one I have found on google images seems to be a track support vehicle at Laguna Secca but by the looks of it they are running 215 or 225 35’s.

I want to run a 225-40-19 since this will technically be the family car, I would like a bit more tire (35 vs 40) is a world of difference especially in a heavier vehicle) Wheel stats for the R3’s are 19x8 47 offset. I was wondering if anyone else has ran a similar set up. I won’t be lowering (or at least anytime soon [emoji48]) so hoping there won’t be any rubbing issues.

I am open to rolling the fenders just to be safe if I have to but was hoping someone else on here has already going thru this and has some input.

I have seen other say they were able to run 19x8.5 with high offset but tires were 225 35 or 215 if I recall correctly and that’s just way too thin for my comfort but I’m sure they loom good.

Thanks in advance for any help, Mazda community

Yay i'm back. I picked up some RX-8 with new 225-40 tires this weekend. I've seen people mention putting spacers on in the rear, is that a necessity, or is that for a more flush look?

So I ended up buying a 2013 Mazda 5 Touring. Still getting used to driving a van but so far so good except for the body roll on this thing sucks but I’ll address that soon hopefully. I also went with 18’s instead of the 19” R3 Wheels I had originally got for it. Went with a set of 18x7.5 Volk GT-S in gunmetal with 225-40-18 Ohtsu Tires. I’ve used these tires before and they are solid tires especially for the price I got them for ($200 shipped!) so far pretty happy with the look

Thoughts?

Thanks man. Yeah I have thought about HID will hit you up when I’m ready. I got a couple other things already lined up that I’m doing next on it

JOSER_SPEED6: great looking vehicle (and wheels, of course)!

I'm far behind many on the forum in terms of upgrades/mods... My major wheel "mod" is getting 16" Mazda6 steel wheels, putting stock size winter tires on them and running them for about five months out of the year. (cabpatch) Not the classiest look, I suppose, esp. given that I have a relatively bare-bones 2014 Sport but it works quite well for what I need! I actually kind of like it.

Thanks! Black on black looks good! My other car is a 2014 Mazda 6 Touring in Black with black wheels. So I like that color combo like you have too. I actually really wanted a black Mazda5 but this one was what was available for what I wanted to spend at the time I was car shopping. The baby blue is not my favorite color but since putting on the new wheels I think it makes it more tolerable for me.
