What did you pay for your CX-5?

Could use some advice, might go pick this up..

2018 AWD Grand Touring, Blue with 5 miles on it...

MSRP/Retail $32,990.00
Total Savings $2,913.00
Selling Price $30,077.00
Rebate $1,000.00
Government Fee $447.25
Proc/Doc Fee $85.00
Total Taxes $2,337.56
Total Savings + Rebate $3,913.00
Total Payment $31,946.81

This deal seem OK for Cali, $29,000 before Taxes and Fees?

I'd look into which fees can be legally charged by dealerships in San Diego. Some states can charge any dealer or doc fee they want, as long as it's disclosed, but this is the first time I've seen a "Government Fee".

That's the first year's registration fee.. *California gouging

Purchased a 2019 Grand Touring Snowflake White today here in Los Angeles.

$31,240 MSRP
- $1250 Rebate ($500 Customer Cash and $750 Mazda Loyalty)
- $2640 Dealer Discount
= $27,350 Sales Price (before tax, title, license)

How'd I do?

Which Dealer was this? I'm trying to buy new CX5 and I live in LA. Can you let me know?

Negotiating with a dealer and was offered $28,985 for a 2019 CX-5 GT FWD with PP in Snowflake white before TTL.

MSRP including destination is $32,865. That's about 11.8% discount. I have a trade in valued around $500-800 PLUS $500 off military discount.

Haven't been told what the OTD price would be so that is all the info I have currently. I'm in California.

Am I heading towards a decent deal? Can I negotiate lower? Any feedback is welcomed. I'm a new car buyer. TIA

Stupid question: Do these quotes include destination charge? Or is that part of TTL?

Just picked up a...

2019 White GT with PP, FWD.

MSRP: $32,865
Discount: $-2,553
Customer Cash: $-500
Sale Price : $29,812
TTL: $3,188 (SoCal)
OTD: $33,000

9.3% off MSRP!

Trade In: $3,700
Final OTD Price: $29,300

So my dealer tried to add $500 onto the TTL for "Aftermarkets" which was like "Nitro Fill" and some other crap. When I asked what "Aftermarkets" was he started to explain that it was 2 separate things this particular dealer does that other dealers normally don't do (even though the car was delivered just the day before and was still in all its plastic, mmm hmm, riiiight) and before he got to finish explaining I stopped him and said that this was an addition that the dealer decided to do without my consent and that there's no way I'm going to pay half a thousand dollars on something I don't want. They quickly removed it.

There's was also a lot of back and forth (standard car buying stuff) with the dealer trying really hard to confuse me with his mumbo-jumbo talk and I just kept pointing to the sale price, OTD price and % off MSRP. Not sure who it was but somebody here said to focus on only those numbers.

I'm quite happy with the price I got as it's very "just off the boat" with only 3 miles on it and we got it to a price my wife and I are both happy with.

This forum really helped me understand my purchasing power so I hope my info can help others too. You guys Rock!

Hi, which dealer did you buy it from? Im in SoCal and looking to buy one. TIA

Destination is included in selling price. TTL etc vary. So its nice to state only selling price and discount on msrp. Even discounts vary by region.

Thank you Kaps, that is very helpful.

Costco pricing anyone?

Curious if anyone here has experience using the Costco Auto Program and how that pricing compares to what I could get by negotiating on my own with the dealer?

My 2016 CX-5 GT lease is ending and I'm looking to get the 2019 model. Can the loyalty program be combined with Costco pricing?

I think about a dozen folks over here will beat COSTCO pricing and they would not be even trying to. FWIW - I got my car for 10% less than the lowest transaction price listed on Trucar. For e.g. if trucar says $25,000 as lowest and 27,000 as median - I paid $22,500.
Its ok to get COSTCO pricing in friend or wife's name for comparison - only problem is if I am a dealer and I Quote you a #, I cant backtrack a lot. Emailing for quotes may work better.

I would only use Costco and all that if I was ok paying more for the sake of not negotiating. From what I've seen, if you want the lowest prices, negotiating them is where its at.

Personally I think you did very well. That is about 10% of MSRP right?

Hello Everyone,

Finally after almost one month of reading this forum and negotiating with Mazda dealers in Southern California; I write my first post.

I have received a quote for a 2019 CX-5 Grand Touring FWD Soul Red Crystal/Parchment with the Premium Package.

MSRP $33,260

Invoice $31,848

Offer $30,260

$30,260 is $1,588 below Invoice and it includes Mazda's $500 customer rebate. 3.39% below Invoice is $1,080 plus $500 rebate, $1,588 total discount of 4.99% below Invoice.

Offer $30,260 plus Registration, Doc. Fees and Taxes.

This quoted offer is from a Mazda dealer in the San Diego area.

I welcome your input and advise.

Blessings

Jesus Christ... A FWD (not AWD) GT is 33k now? Oh guess its the packages...

Anyway, invoice basically doesn't mean anything. You have about a 9.1% discount which is not bad. Some might do better, you could do worse.

How are people getting 11-12% off? I feel like I had to work for that 9.1. Makes me not want to settle and keep trying to negotiate
