LinuxRacr's Car Progress Log..

did the car come down off jacks or something? I had mine on a lift at the base.

Update. Tokico Illuminas are on the way, and I have a new A/C Condensor. I can't be driving to AZ with no damn A/C can I? I think I will also install the AWR 21.5mm swaybar today while I am doing the A/C condensor.

If you already have a swaybar, it should be easy. I eventually had to cut off one of my existing endlinks because the nut got fused to the endlink. Hope it goes better for you.

The AWR 21.5mm swaybar is installed. I left the end-links loose in anticipation of my Tokico Illuminas. Does anyone have pictures of how the bar is oriented when installed? I want to make sure I have it installed right. While working on the A/C Condenser install, I took out the old one (pain in the ass), and was ready to install the new one. Looking at the old condenser, there of course is a line attached to the driver's side that does not disconnect from the condenser at all. The new one does not have this line. After talking to Ahmad, we realized that he had the same issue. He had to get a $30 detachable line from the stealership. I guess they had too many reliability issues with that static line breaking off overtime, and causing folks to have to get a whole new condenser instead of just a line.

yeah, I was trying to put it on backwards at first, too. Took a while before I figured it out. If you need pics of anything specific, let me know. I can have em quick.

Just the bar installed. Can't have too many pictures...The more, the clearer.

watch out for the box of juice drinks, a neigbor gave em to me and I was using em to hold down the brake pedal when I was working with the lights. you can also see the tubular steel trailing links (black). My bar may look a little different as I painted it and the endlinks silver. I am a little annoyed that the hexnuts have rusted. I'm going to email Tony about that.

I got a response about if there is a solution to the hex... ummm... nut rust. :D

Tony from AWR said:
yes, you could put in stainless if you desired. 14/20 cap head allen screws.

I am buying some today. Always buy stainless hardware for the car. I don't know why people don't include stainless hardware by default. Not that expensive. Already replaced my hood hardware (custom hood)

That's good news glyph. I was noticing that (rusted allen screws) today when I finished the install of my new AWR Swaybar.

BTW UPDATE :D :

I was going to order a Fiber Images Evo 8 style Carbon Fiber Hood thru *************.com, but that order has been canceled. Instead, I ran into this kick-ass deal on the forum for a Kevlar Black and Blue Fiber Images Hood for $450 shipped. I also bought his HKS SSQ BOV. Can't wait for their arrival. :D I also canceled the order for my Tokico Illuminas. Gonna have to wait for funds to become more abundant. :( This morning I went by the shop before work. The aftermarket A/C condenser that I have is not going to work, so I will be getting a new one, and sending that one back. Jonboy, thank you for the hookup on the parts!!! I finished up installing the AWR swaybar, and found out that I had it positioned right afterall. The only difference is that where my endlinks connect to the swaybar, is not the same as how Natey has his. Mine are connected a little further up past the curve, so that the end-links are routed between the lateral links. There is still about 2-3 inches of clearance, so the bar does not hit. WenFeng finished sanding down my bumpers. When I went back to the shop after work, he had already primered them up, and said they would be painted tomorrow. The rest of the car will be painted on Thrusday. The Kevlar Blue and Black fiber hood and HKS SSQ BOV that I bought off speeddoc should be here hopefully Friday! The car is finally comming together like it should.

WOW..I really want to see pictures...but I have a feeling your going to save them for a big revealing..

not sure if you are aware of what the adjustments on the sway bar mean, but further to the end of the bar is soft, street setup, the softest would be no bar showing at the edge of the bracket. The tightest, least oversteer setup would be the other way. I have mine at a close to stock setting in those pics. In fact, when I replace the hardware, I will be tightening it up some more now that I have had plenty of time to get used to the new turn in. I think those endlinks made a huge difference too.
