6 disc factory Changer Upgrade

I have an 02 Mazda Protege with a single disc CD changer and I'm looking for an upgrade to the 6 disc.

I have no problem finding the part number I need at

In-Dash 6-Disc CD Changer - DX/LX
Year: 2002, 2003
Part Number: TC87-79-EG0_
http://www.4mazdaparts.com/scripts/details.cfm?Item=TC87-79-EG0_

but it will be a cold day in hell before I pay $540 bucks for it.

On E-bay, "Bargainland Liquidation" is selling supposedly stock 6 disc changers for the 2000 MPV for pennies:

https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned)

Unfortunately I have combed the internet for hours and have not been able to find the MPV 2000 Part number for this. The closest I could find was the 02 MPV 6 disch changer and of course it is not the same #(LD51-79-EG0). Does different part number mean different part and if so why the hell would they make a different 6 disc changer for the 02 MPV than for the 02 protege when they look identical? . . . which brings me to my question . . .

Is there any chance that a 2000 MPV 6 disc changer could work or be made to work in my 02 protege or is this just very wishful thinking? Any input would be appreciated . .. or if you have a factory 6 disc laying around for sale that would be appreciated as well!
