Cleaning block, should I get new freeze plugs?

I'm taking my block in to get jet cleaned this week. Should tap out the freeze plugs and order new ones?

Yes. Your engine will get much cleaner if all internal passages are accessible.

actually you would hope so, otherwise your block may crack if you happen to be stupid enough to run plain water or weak antifreeze in your car and you live where it gets below 32degrees F.

well the freeze plugs do not pop out...they can be opened to drain or air if you do the above

also this is why they offer block heaters for cars in colder climates to prevent this.

Not only...Most of the block heaters I have scene slide in where the dipstick goes...it keeps the oil from coagulating too much, basically so when you start the car the pump is trying to push snot around...overall helping on ring and piston wear (cold starting is where almost 90% of internal ring wear on normal engines occurs)...Some don't go into the dipstick hole, but they more or less do the same thing...
