Bleeding brakes...

Hey Guys, sorry I'm doing this for the first time. Why do you not need to bleed the brakes? I just changed my pads to ceramics and I'll be replacing the rotors in a couple days. Since changing the pads, I seem to have lost brake response, like about 30% They're squealing like a mother, too. Help! Thanks!
