Has anyone noticed a whinning noise from the engine of their MP5. When ever I give it gas, I hear a higher pitched noise that differs from engine revs.
i think mine does that, i sometimes think (and hope) someone stole my car, boosted it, then returned it and i didnt know, then i notice its still slow then i get sad
it's possible this may be the fuel pump you're hearing. Sometimes if your injectors are too dirty your fuel pump has to work extra hard to get the right amount of fuel to the engine. I had this problem with my Pathfinder when I went too long without a tune up. I heard a distinct whining sound around 2000-2500 RPMs.
If you're sure the sound is coming from the engine bay this may not be it though. I'm not sure about the P5 but I think the fuel pump is more toward the rear of the car or in-line with the tank.
