I went to Mazdastuff.com just lookin' around. I found this:

Why is the 2003 cargo tray less expensive than the 2002? Is there some difference in the cargo bay?

NO DIFFERENCE....other than the price.....get ya one!

p.s......I tend to b**** when the prices go UP...not down! lol (stash)

I noticed that on the 02.5/03 P5 on fmprotege.com that in the ground control install pics in the yeller one that in the hatch area it has some little brace type deals on the sides behind the rear seats. I know my 02 doesnt have this. Possibly something to do with the side impact bags? I have no clue I have been wondering about those and it has just slipped my mind until i saw this thread. Anyone know their purpose?

i believe your talking about the loops that the cargo net clips to.

i have a 2002 with the side impact bags and I do not have those brace things in mine. HMMMMMMMMMM

no bro, look at the pic he posted. there is a yellow bar on each side of the car right behind where the seats would be. its between one of the loops with a strap and the back seat. you can obviously see it in the pictures. i would guess they are there for more structural rigidity but i could be wrong
