Im thinking about upgrading my 14 GT to either a 19 or 20. My wife just had a 19 Reserve loaner when she took her Masda3 in the service. We really liked the car except the auto lift-gate, it didnt open up nearly as high as mine causing my wife to hit her head (confused). Is there a height adjustment or just a function of the mechanism?

The height of liftgate is programmable.
Someone might have programmed it to a lower position.
May we know how tall is your wife?

I was hoping that was the case, thanks for the reply. She is 5 6 by the way. Im 6 and I fit comfortably under my 14.

They come from the factory going as high as they can go. But even as high as they can go isn*t high enough I hit my head all the time. And I*m only 5*11. It needs to go higher for sure.

I just checked mine ('17 CX5).
When it is fully open, it measures 6'1" from the ground.
So, it is the same as your '14.
Someone must have reprogrammed your loaner.

If you press and hold the button and don*t let go until it takes the tailgate off you it will cancel any preset adjustments. Don*t be afraid to push it up to test the maximum height - you won*t damage it.

It would not be a deal-breaker when it is time to upgrade. But I do like the height of the '14's liftgate. Thanks for the info everyone!
