Fuel pump replacement

Hi

Need to change the fuel pump in my 2012 mazda5, and my question is does it have a port under one of the back seats to access the pump or does the tank need to be dropped ?

thanks for the info

Joe

Hi Joe - Good question! I'd wondered the same. Haven't had any need to access same yet, but looked it up in the factory service manual. Ours is an '09, but I would bet your '12 is similar.

Good news - there is an access hatch from inside the vehicle (which means that you don't have to drop the tank to replace the pump).

Per the FSM you need to remove the 2nd-row seat(s), rear package tray lid, sub-trunk, 3rd-row seat, rear scuff plate, trunk end trim, 3rd-row seatbelt lower anchor installation bolt, cargo compartment light, and trunk side trim, and then peel back the floor covering to get access to the cover plate.

Good luck!
