OP was talking about turbo charged engines. 
Like I've mentioned before and probably will again, Mazda was built on the rotary engine, and even won LeMans with it....the only Asian carmaker to ever win outright there. I'm gonna keep bringing it up.
I'd be putting synthetic in my high mileage CR-V engine before I'd put it in my twin turbo RX-7 and started collecting ash deposits.
