Anyone running 16" wheels?

2019 CX-5 AWD
Just curious if anyone here is running 16" wheels. They are plentiful and cheap on Craigslist. Mazda, Hyundai, and Kia are the 3 biggest sources of OEM light 16" alloys that will fit. I like larger tires for lighter weight, more sidewall, and improved ride quality.

I'm looking at 235/70/16 for my next tire size.

Yeah, I use the OE 16" steelies I saved from a 2010 Mazda 3 with 225/70r16 winter tires. Used them on both my 2016 and 2018 CX-5s.

Pics would be very much appreciated. www.imgur.com

I am thinking of running these down to 30-40% or so and replacing with 235/70/16 on OEM 16" Mazda alloys. That way, I will sell the vehicle with the OE wheels and tires. Did the same with last vehicle.

I like fat tires. They massively improved the ride over the OE 20s and also reduced road noise significantly.

Awesome, so you have enough room for the rotor, no rubbing issues on tight turns? My tires are going to be a 245/70/16 on steelies as well.

I put my snowies on black 16" rims from Tire Rack and I like them better than the alloys. I had a bit of rotor rub once but then I realized the tire store had put the tires on backwards (dunno). Easy fix, embarrassed tire store.

Found a pic of a CX-5 on 16s and upsized tires from the more picture happy CX-5 Facebook Group. There are not many CXs out there running 16s.

My dream wheel setup is the 16x7 Enkei RPF1, only 13.7 pounds each. Offset is good at 43mm, very close to the 45 offset of the 2017+ wheels. PCD Mazda CX-5 (2017 - ) 5x114.3 wheels | PCD, Offset, Center Bore, mounting and tire size data It is the lightest 16" alloy wheel for this platform. I'll buy them through Amazon because they have a generous return policy; TireRack's return policy sucks - once the product is driven on, they will not take it back, so if you don't like the wheel or tire setup, too bad. Amazon, Costco, or Discount Tire (if there is one near you) will let you return tires if they don't work out. Since they make it expensive and a hassle (or impossible) to return anything, I won't buy tires there, but they are a useful site for information, ratings, and specs.

Since this thread I bought 16" wheels and 225/75/16s, which are 29.3". No rubbing and no spacers.

What year CX5? Just for curiosity. Because in a couple of years I will be selling off my old CX7 and getting a CX5. I currently am running 235/65/17 for summer on it and will be taking those wheels and tires and putting them on the CX5.
i would be looking at going 16” for winter, but since I don’t like steel wheels I would be looking at either aftermarket wheels or oem from another manufacturer that makes a higher offset, example the Mitsubishi 16” wheel from the Eclipse Cross is a 38 mm offset and going 235/70/16.

It's a 19 CX-5. 1st gen CX-5 uses 50 offset, 2nd gen uses 45mm offset. I'm happy with the price/performance of the wheels and tires.
