I'm looking to replace my stock tires as they are about worn out. Looking for something with similar tread life as stock tires and similar/better performance? Are there any better alternatives?

General Altimax RT43 can*t be beat for the money, imo, especially in wet conditions...

tirerack.com is a good source of info and pricing.
Your local Discount Tire/American Tire usually matches the prices.

+1 for the Altimax RT43. Now have 20,000 miles on them and expect to get 35 to 40K before the safety bars. I'm an easy drive in a suburban setting. Purchased mine at Walmart and they mounted and balanced. excellent tire in the Florida rainy season. Ed

Here's a comparison table for your 225/65R17 tire:

Here are partial list of many 225/65R17 tires with specs. I still feel General AltiMAX RT43 is the best buy with excellent reviews. And Continental is a major tire company based in Germany.

When getting General AltiMAX RT43 for 225/65R17, there're both "H" and "T" rated tires available, 102H and 102T. Make sure to get "H" rated 225/65R17 102H RT43 tire as it's a much better tire than "T" rated one, such as "700 A A" UTQG on "H" rated than "700 A B" on "T" rated, and 51 psi maximum inflation pressure on "H" rated over 44 psi on "T" rated.

I just replaced my stock tires with Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422+. Got them at Costco with an instant savings of $129.96. I was originally going to get a set of Michelin Defender T+H, but couldnt pass up this deal, and not to mention I just so happened to get a screw in one of my tires a few days ago.
