Rotors - Disc help

I have a 2014 Mazda CX5 GT and I was told that I need all my brakes done, front worse then back. Also told that my shocks are leaking and they need to be replaced. I have 60,772 miles currently.
Second thing is I see some people say rotors and some say disc. What type of brakes are on my car? Thanks

Brake rotor and brake disc are the same thing. (2thumbs)

That's what I'd expect. Check this out though: https://i.imgur.com/qK77tAl.jpg

My dealer charged for,

1. front pads and rotors $220
2. pad sub set, caliper $89
3. plate, disc $144

If rotors and disc are the same, then why two items on the bill?

Also -- is it standard fair to change all of the calipers with the discs and rotors (at 24,000 miles old btw) or does this mean something was at fault with the calipers that they didn't want to admit? (Dealer claims it's standard and completely normal).

On your list #1 is for the labor for the pads and rotors, #2 is for the brake pads, #3 is for the brake rotor/discs.

The dealer changed your calipers? they are not on the receipt you posted.

24k miles seems early, but in the vehicle report it says that you have over 50% brake life remaining, so why did you change them so early?

I typed in your part numbers, here is an auction for the exact items.

Thanks for clarifying that.

Loud grinding noises. Interestingly even after taking my foot off the brakes. Dealer recommended replacement of all rotors and pads. That*s interesting about the 50%. I hadn*t noticed that. The doc they provided first is this one (on the right): https://m.imgur.com/OgHJWc1

The left-side document is just 3000 miles earlier.

I don't get it either. 220 for brakes and rotors, then 144 for two rotors. I see they used Castrol oil for your oil change.

Ohhh I got it. $220 is for the labor. I added up all your parts and came up with $510.40 that matched on your total.

$89 is too low for an oem caliper so it must be $89 for the 4 front brake pads. You were billed about right, that is what a typical dealer charges for a all around brake job and oil change.

Thanks for helping me better understand that. Im okay with the work the dealer did, it pretty disappointed that it was necessary at just 24,000 miles on a 2016 cx-5 GT

That is early. There is a good chance that the work that was done makes your new set of brakes last long because there could have been a condition, lack of lube or corrosion for example, that the tech fixed when he did the job.
