I dumped my CX-5 finally

You all suck! [emoji14]

Lol!!!

If it makes you feel any better, homeowners insurance skyrocketed here in FL after Hurricane Irma. Everybody with a 20-30 year old roof in my county got a little bit of damage and as a result a brand new roof courtesy of their insurance. Somebody had to pay for all of those roofs and unfortunately its this guy who got no damage.

Yeah...sounds about right. I'm paying for all these hail claims of which I had none.

I am retired from insurance claims. Many factors affect premium. In some states credit scores are considered. Lawyers are driving up claims with excessive treatment with their clinic buddies. Blame them too.

800 FICO, clean record, 2018 Touring AWD, 250/500/100, UM 250/500, medpay 10000, 500 collision, 100 comp deds, $670 per year with latest increase.

My neighbor gave me a ride to the airport in his AMG GLC 43 today.

Impressions vs. my CX5:

Ride was firmer
Handling was a bit flatter
Turbo-lag was notable
Top end acceleration was significantly better
Cabin isolation/noise control was slightly worse
Interior quality was on par (surprised me!)
Transmission shuffled gears faster than a Vegas dealer. IMPRESSED!

The AMG definitely had a larger performance envelope, but the quality and execution was VERY comparable, if maybe even a little in favor of my CX5 GT-R. I was truly surprise!

Benz will give a nice ride, but I'm biased against them after owning one. Had a 2006 CLK350 convertible. NEVER made it through a single oil change interval without throwing a check engine light. I bought it CPO and sold it with 110k miles on it. Needed a balance shaft replacement in the engine for $8000 quoted.

Dealers don't really shuffle cards anymore in Vegas, btw. [emoji39]

Alright, so it's been a few weeks...how are things?

First of all, the heated steering wheel is awesome! As are the A/C seats. The power is not as much as I hoped for, but hey, it never is! I am fine with it. It "fits the vehicle", so to speak, and it never feels weak (except in 13*F weather...)

The sound isolation is nice!

The handling continues to impress me. It's definitely a step up from my 2015, and even coming from a legitimate sports car, it won't upset you.

What's shocking to me, is how amazingly frugal it is on fuel! Far better than my 2015. Here is the pre-fill up from my last tank daily commuting!

Driven similarly, my 2015 would return 25-25.5mph, or thereabouts, if that. This is maybe 30-40% rural roads (50-70, lots of turns, lots of "foothills"), 25-30% highway (70-85), and the rest city (35-50, mild traffic).

This is the fuel I've been running. For perspective, the same station prices Diesel at $2.75/gal. Even if they drop the CX5-D, it makes no sense to buy the darn thing, IMO

Found this old video of my Jeep 0-80. Seems it's a bit swifter. That thing brought the pain, both for acceleration, and at the pump, lol!

The jeep cut off around 110ish, iirc.

Also, got my worst daily driving mileage. 25.5 by the computer. 100mph blasts and fun in the corners. Hand calculated it out at 26.4 though! This thing gets great mileage vs its window sticker expectations. Way better than my 2015 both in comparison to ratings, and in totality.
