Nav Entry Question

2018 Mazda CX-9 Signature

I've only had my '18 CX-9 for a couple of months, but I THOUGHT I used to be able to change destinations on the navigation system (or add an interim destination) while driving by using the Command knob. I know it won't let you use the touchscreen.
However, when I'm in motion the address option is now deactivated for any kind of input.
I've checked all settings that I can find. Am I wrong about address entry when moving being available with the Command knob?

I think you're wrong but am not positive. We've found that address entry works much more reliably through voice entry so we use that almost exclusively. We quickly figured out not to include the zip code when using voice entry (our old car wanted the zip, the CX-9 doesn't seem to like it).

If I remember correctly, you can find a point of interest, select it and then add it as a destination or a waypoint.

From what I can tell you are correct. The only way to enter an address while moving is thru voice command I believe. The *address* field is greyed an not accessible while moving.
