2020 Cx-5 due for refresh facelift?

:
2019 cx-5 signature. 2019 cx-3 awd touring
Ok guys,
so the 2nd Gen cx-5 is now on their 3rd MY.
the 2019's were just released with the new 2.5t along with the Signature edition and GT-R.

Do you think the 2020 MY will have a mid model refresh?
Although i'm picking up the 2019 model, I have this sneaky suspicion that it will be refreshed. =P

NOTE: I'm talking about mid model refresh and not a completely new redesigned Gen 3

Other than new wheels, maybe new color combos, doubtful you will see any facelifts per se.

Unless I skipped a generation, I only count 2:

2013 - 2016 Mazda CX-5

See Year: 2013 - 2014 - 2015 - 2016

2017 - 2019 Mazda CX-5

I agree with STE92VE. But looking at that, I would say that a new CX-5 could be coming for 2021.

haha thanks man.
just corrected. my bad..
i was thinking 3rd iteration with the facelifted models.

Gen 1 had 5 model years, which is not reflected on that chart. They had the normal ones, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, but they also added the 2016.5

You could call that a mid-model refresh, but if you actually look at the dates each came out, it was it's own model year for sure, as the 2016.5 was the one that came out in actual 2016, and was a year after the 2016 came out. I think they just called it the 2016.5 instead of the 2017 because it allowed the actual year to catch up with their model year number.

At only 3 model years for the Gen 2 so far, doubt they are ready for a Gen 3 yet. Maybe when the Skyactiv-X comes to the CX-5? Don't know.

Yea, I think they dont cut it short unless they are under pressure to do so as they need to maximize their ROI. As it is the 2nd gen is acing current crash testing and its not being out classed by anyone yet. So I would be expecting to see the X motor and improved AWD possibly added to this generation. But not a new generation that soon. 2021 or 2022 maybe.

great info,
but i was talking about mid model refresh, not a complete new gen.
Do you think they will refresh next year?

Not new gen,
but a mid model refresh, like they do with all their lineups.
You think it will be in 2020 they would do this refresh?

It currently has the corporate front end that they just added to the 3 and 6..... I doubt it. But adding things like SkyActiv X motor and the updated AWD from the 3 are likely.

yes definitely likely,

but seeing all their previous models and generations.
The timing seems about right that they would do a minor refresh on the design.
They did this to the previous cx-5, mazda3, the new cx-3 and mazda 6.
so my guess is that would refresh the cx-9 and the cx-5 very soon.

I think they will update the CX-9 and CX-3 to have the new corporate face so Colorado can hate on it and the CX-5 will be left alone.

The minor CX5 refresh wasn't physical though. Just rearranged some packages.
