Car doesnt start every once and a while

I have a 2002 Protege5. Few months ago car wouldnt start. Turn the key, and I hear one click that sounds like its cming from the glove box. Lights, radio etc work, steering wheel turns. Battery tested and its fine. Friend got it to start by using a screw driver and putting it between two screws. Obviously the starter could be bad. But I also was reading other people having problems with the anti theft immobilizer. Anyone have any clue? Or can tell me which screws I have to put the screw driver between? My friend that did it for me a few months ago passed away.

Thank u

It could be your clutch switch or TR switch (transaxle range switch).

The ECU needs to know your clutch is in or you are in park or neutral (if it's an automatic) before it will allow the starter motor to engage.

Your ignition switch may also be bad.
